During the month of December of last year we explored Isaiah 53. This is a amazing chapter of the Bible and I strongly suggest you go read it. You can read the whole of my commentary on it here!

It has always interested me how the Pharisees and Scribes of Jesus’ day didn’t recognize Him as the true Savior. You think that because they knew the Torah and Old Testament so well that Jesus would have stuck out like a sore thumb in their eyes. But, they didn’t see Him as the Savior. Why not?

The thing is the Pharisees and Scribes didn’t need any help. They had the people under their thumbs and weren’t in bad connection with Rome. For the Pharisees and Scribes, Jesus didn’t arrive at the best time.

As far as the average Israelite went they wanted a leader who could lead them into battle against the Romans, throwing off their oppression. The Israelites wanted freedom! But when Jesus Christ came along, their hopes were dashed. But, Jesus did bring those Israelites freedom. He brought them freedom from sin, and He brought it for you too!
