Star-sizes

Awhile back, I found the above picture on a creation site. I pretty much love all star-size comparisons, especially in video format, so when I found this one I had to sit and stare at it for awhile.

At first, the size comparisons can be kind of hard to follow since the last planet or star shrinks so much into the next picture. So, I have decided to make you a mental picture.

Mercury, Mars and Venus are all smaller than the earth and you an easily get a picture of them in the first picture. I’ll leave those three to the picture.

Now, in the second picture we have some more interesting, bigger planets. Just for time, and understanding, sakes, we will use a ping-pong ball as the earth, then we will compare the ping-pong earth with the planets and stars.

If earth were the size of a ping-pong ball, Neptune and Uranus would be about as big as the ping-pong paddle.

If earth were the size of a ping-pong ball, Saturn would be as large as a decent-sized rainbow trout.

If earth were the size of a ping-pong ball, Jupiter would be the size of a basketball hoop.

If earth were the size of a ping-pong ball, the sun (I skipped Wolf 359) would be as big as a elephant.

If earth were the size of a ping-pong ball, Sirius would be the size of a killer whale.

If earth were the size of a ping-pong ball, Pollux would be as slightly bigger than a full grown Sperm whale.Onterie_Center

If earth were the size of a ping-pong ball, Arcturus would be the size of three fully grown blue whales with three newborns. Remember, blue whales are the biggest creatures on earth!

If earth were the size of a ping-pong ball, Aldebaran would be as large as the Onterie Center (pictured on the right).

If earth were the size of a ping-pong ball, Rigel would be as big as the Titanic.

If earth were the size of a ping-pong ball, Antares would be as large as 10 Eiffel towers stacked on top of each other.

If earth were the size of a ping-pong ball, Betelgeuse would be the size of two Golden Gate bridges.

If earth were the size of a ping-pong ball, MU Cephei would be as big as seven and a half Niagara falls.

If earth were the size of a ping-pong ball, (skipped W Cephei since these two are close to the same size) VY Canis Majoris would be as large as Mount Everest!

Just think, all this comes from the hand of a God so amazing, that He sent His only begotten Son to save you. You can learn more about His saving grace, here.
