At the beginning of the universe, the enemy of God, Satan, gave a tasty proposal to Eve: the opportunity to become a goddess. Eve did what Satan asked and even now people are still hoping that they too can become like gods. This teaching, unbeknownst to many, is taught in many religions today including Mormonism. They teach that through the right works and plans anyone can become a god or goddess, even though such a teaching contradicts the Bible.
Mormonism has four main books they consider “scripture”. These books are the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price. In Doctrine and Covenants (D&C) chapter 132, verse 20 it says:
Then shall they [faithful Mormons] be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting o everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them.
Here, in a revelation given to the Mormon’s leader, Joseph Smith, the Lord God gives a revelation that humans, if they are faithful to His commandments, will be able to become gods themselves. Mormons claim that the God who revealed this is the same God revealed to mankind in the Bible.
