The moon, today, is 239,000 miles from earth. 6,000 years ago it was 750 feet closer, that is nothing compared to how far away the moon would have been at the “beginning” of the universe related to the Big Bang.

The following list gives you the dates from today and the second part gives you the distance between the moon and the earth. Some of these numbers are not perfect because of the acceleration you get when the moon is closer and the deceleration when it is further away.

1 billion years ago                            210,600 miles away
