Becomes Sin

Is all anger sin? No, but some of it is. Even God Himself has righteous anger against sin, injustice, rebellion and pettiness. Anger sometimes serves a useful purpose, so it isn’t necessarily always a sin. Obviously, we’re going to have adverse feelings, or God wouldn’t have needed to provide the fruit of self-control. Just being tempted to do something is not sin. It’s when you don’t resist the temptation, but do it anyway, then it becomes sin.

– Joyce Meyer

Going to War

Marriage is an adventure, like going to war.

– G.K. Chesterton

The Puritan ethic of marriage was first to look not for a partner whom you do love passionately at this moment but rather for one whom you can love steadily as your best friend for life, then to proceed with God’s help to do just that.

J. I. Packer

Something to Think On

Francis_BaconSome excellent quotes from scientific leaders who believe in a Almighty Creator God.

There are two books laid before us to study, to prevent our falling into error; first, the volume of the Scriptures, which reveal the will of God; then the volume of the Creatures, which express His power. – Francis Bacon

And the Paschal Wager:

How can anyone lose who chooses to become a Christian? If, when he dies, there turns out to be no God and his faith was in vain, he has lost nothing—in fact, he has been happier in life than his nonbelieving friends, If, however, there is a God and a heaven and hell, then he has gained heaven and his skeptical friends will have lost everything in hell! – Blaise Paschal

A word from Michael Faraday.

The Bible, and It alone, with nothing added to It nor taken away from It by man, is the Sole and Sufficient Guide for each individual, at all times and in all circumstances…Faith in the divinity and work of Christ is the gift of God, and the evidence of this faith is obedience to the commandment of Christ. – Michael Faraday

And, of course, the excellent summary from John Herschel:

All human discoveries seem to be made only for the purpose of confirming more and more strongly the truths come from on high and contained in the sacred writings. – John Herschel

Anybody want to deny the excellent work of these men and they were still sane while being a creationist!

Those About Him

We would worry less if we praised more. Thanksgiving is the enemy of discontent and dissatisfaction.

The Christian is called out from the world. His life is not to be as the lives of those about him.

It is not only that sin consists in doing evil, but in not doing the good that we know.

– Harry Ironside
