In order to read this article on the mind your eyes are sending pictures of this page to your brain, which, in turn, is turning the words and images into information! And as you grip the mouse with your left hand, or your right, you are using your brain. In fact, in order to breathe or even move you have to use your brain.
The brain consists of various lobes that each work on a specific part of thought and have different functions. The left side of the brain sends neurons to the right part of the body to control any movement or produce any function. The right side of the brain does the same but on the left side of the body.
The two differences that are necessary to dissect the two sides of the brain are the gray matter and white matter. Each color of the brain has different jobs and purposes.
Brain convolutions (the squiggly lines you see in pictures of the brain) allow for more thought area in a smaller space. A thin membrane holds together and protects the brain from microscopic invaders; it also protects it from the inside of your skull.
Main parts of the brain include:
- Brain Stem (connects to the spinal cord)
- and more!
To get a good grasp of how the brain works and looks like refer to the following image. The squiggly lines are convolutions and the neurons are sent down by the bottom of the brain into the spinal cord to control movements:
When the brain processes information it will send electric signals called neurons that will move down your spinal cord and specify which actions you will take. If you want to move your hand to the left you have to use your right side of your brain to send neurons down your spinal cord to the nervous system that surrounds your body!
In reality without your brain you would not be alive in your physical body and you would be utterly useless! God has granted us an amazing tool in the brain and we should use it only for His purposes!
