Wilson Bentley, at age 14 began a lengthy journey into science that would change the mindset of millions.
Bentley first started his lifelong quest with a telescope and free time. He studied the stars, planets and the sun. But when he starting taking up a interest in smaller objects, snow-sized objects, he found his true place.
As he studied the weather and snow he noticed that each snowflake had its’ own design and upon that discovery Bentley is quoted as saying ‘every crystal was a masterpiece of design; and no one design was ever repeated. When a snowflake melted, that design was forever lost. Just that much beauty was gone, without leaving any record behind.’*
Bentley tried, still a teenager, to document his findings by drawing each snowflake, but, sadly, many of the snowflakes melted before a full drawing was done. But a new step in technology gave Bentley a hope to document his work perfectly. His family got him camera that could be used with a microscope to take pictures of small objects.
It took him years but Bentley finally achieved his goal, multiple photographs of snowflakes. But did Bentley found his discovery in any solid ground?
The ‘wonders of God’s handiwork are to be found in the tiniest details of all He has made. One powerful example of this beauty is the intricate design of a snow crystal. Anyone who’s seen snowflakes under a microscope cannot help but be amazed by how beautifully complex they are….’ As he observes from the 5,000 photographs of snow crystals he collected, “Under the microscope I found that snowflakes were miracles of beauty.’1
There exists even more of such quotes so we have no reason to doubt that Bentley only confirmed the Truth; God is the Creator!
